It is only in these years of late that one is able to surmise the probable cause of our Queen Rosanna’s madness, and it shall be my duty to relate to you this story most preposterous yet compelling. The tale begins many a year ago when the young Rosanna was but a small child, the center of all attention at Castle Radnier, for she was the only female child of Lady Emily and Lord Danne of Dannawood.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to all of the danger, she became fascinated and was allowed to entertain herself with the most treasured of all of the Castle Radnier’s heirlooms, the very Viking badge bequeathed to the family from a generation past. Being still quite young, she constantly satisfied her oral cravings by sucking upon the metal and it is by that seemingly innocent habit that it is believed she slowly absorbed traces of the poisons and elements it so contained. As she continued to grow into young adolescence and the poisons took effect, her imaginings of being Queen became stronger and what at first seemed like an innocent childhood game, became very real to her. She was, in her own mind, none other than her majesty, the Queen of England. Her suckling and chewing on the treasured badge continued, though she managed to hide her addiction to most everyone well into her young adulthood. It became apparent to her parents that her condition was worsening in the sense that although she appeared quite normal in her physical growth and health, her mental capacity for understanding her true identity was far from normal. Several attempts were made to rid her of her malady, including many visits from (doctors) from lands far and near, and at least once from the far away land of Morocco, as her family were most eager to cure her of her demons. Cost was no object as the realm of the Castle Radnier know few limits and it was in part this fact that has led us to the present situation of the Castle and our mad queen, Lady Rosanna. For it was the numerous attempts to rid her of her demons that began to seem cruel and unnecessary, a surrender of sorts was made and it was decided to allow her many fantasies, as they in truth hurt no one. In the battle between reality and fantasy, compassion won out. She would name her attendants and give them their duties, at times sending them out to find and bring back trinkets and treasures from the near and not so near shires, while others tended to her extensive gardens and palat ial surroundings. Care was taken to maintain her safety and continued sequesterings and it in this way we now know of the causes believed to have contributed to the present condition of our mad queen, the Lady Rosanna. |
