BIOGRAPHIES OF PERFORMERS
RHAN WILSON
Rhan Wilson grew up in Santa Cruz and has performed with such locals as Bob Burnett, Pipa Piñon, Daniel Lewis, Gary Regina, Erin Schwartz, and Max Drake as well as others for the past twenty years.
In 1989 he started the publication MASC (Music and Art Santa Cruz), a monthly which covered local music and art and featured interviews with local groups. The earthquake brought about the end of the publication, but not before a noticeable shift took place in local music coverage. At least one MASC knock-off briefly surfaced, but fell short in it's commitment to local arts and music.
In 1992 Rhan made the short move to San Francisco where he began playing percussion with the group Haunted By Waters, which featured other Santa Cruz locals including David Hannibal, Cait McWhir and Greg Stone. The group's CD, "Like The Dust" achieved national distribution and widespread air play.
Soon establishing himself in the SF music scene, Rhan appeared by invitation with Zakir Hussain, Pete and Sheila Escovedo, Michael Shrieve, Baba Olatunji, Mickey Hart and the rest of the surviving members of the Grateful Dead for the Polo Field Memorial for Jerry Garcia. People Magazine, The Grateful Dead Almanac, Rolling Stone Magazine, and the hardback book "Garcia" were among those publishing photos of Rhan's performance.
David Gans' book entitled, "The Online World Remembers Jerry Garcia"included Rhan's written account of the event entitled, "My View From The Stage."
Shortly thereafter, Rhan began working with the group THOTH, playing percussion and with violinist S.K. Thoth, creating "dhejuti records" which has now produced several CD's for the group THOTH.
Rhan is now living back in Santa Cruz where he continues to produce and perform music of all styles.
BOB BURNETT
Bob Burnett moved from the East Coast to Santa Cruz, California in 1978 and started performing in a series of swing groups, influenced by Django Reinhardt and Charlie Parker. In the mid eighties, Burnett started exploring rock and world beat as well as playing in the house band for the children's television show, "Kid's Clubhouse," on San Jose's KTEH. In the late eighties, Bob worked briefly for E-Mu Systems, where he developed a strong interest in sampling technology. Since then he has played with groups ranging from Rock to African to Klezmer to Jazz, touring and recording with local and nationally known groups including Pele Juju, Pipa Piñon, and Kosono.
Bob has just released a solo CD, entitled "Loops & Lines." The project combines the acoustic guitar with sampling and loops. It also includes some of the best musicians in the Bay Area who have played and or recorded with such diverse artists as George Harrison, Mickey Hart, and Pavarotti.

After touring the Southwest in '94 and Europe in '95, Pipa Piñon has returned to the San Francisco Bay area to record her next CD with her band, the Shapeshifters.
